01
ToiletScore provides a mobile service for finding, reviewing, and contributing information about toilets. For the personal data described in this policy, ToiletScore is the data controller.
You may browse public toilet and venue information without an account. An account is required for features such as publishing a review, uploading a photo, saving a favorite, or submitting a content report.
02
When you create an account, we collect your email address, username, account identifier, and authentication information. You may also add a profile image. Authentication is handled through Supabase; ToiletScore does not receive your password in readable form.
If you grant location permission, ToiletScore accesses your device’s foreground location to show toilets and venues nearby. We do not request background location. A location used to search nearby places may be sent to Google as a search-area bias. We do not build a history of your live device location in the ToiletScore database.
If you add a missing toilet or update a venue, the location, address, and facility information you submit are stored because they form part of the public place listing.
Depending on the features you use, we collect:
ToiletScore accesses only the photos you choose through the system photo picker. Selected photos are uploaded to public storage when you submit them. Please do not upload images containing faces, identification documents, or other personal information.
Our infrastructure providers may process IP addresses, request timestamps, authentication events, device or browser information, and diagnostic data to deliver and secure the service. Anonymous live-cleanliness feedback uses a one-way hash derived from the request IP address and toilet identifier to limit repeated submissions. The raw address is not stored in that feedback row.

Where European data protection law applies, the legal bases for this processing include performing the service you request, consent for optional device permissions, our legitimate interests in operating a safe and useful community service, and compliance with legal obligations.
ToiletScore does not currently use a third-party advertising or behavioral analytics SDK, and we do not sell personal data.
04
ToiletScore is a community service. Your username, optional avatar, published reviews, ratings, tags, photos, and contributed place or facility details may be visible to anyone using the service. Aggregate scores may incorporate your ratings.
Your email address, favorites, authentication information, and identity as the person who submitted a content report are not displayed publicly. Reports are available to authorized moderators and are handled confidentially.
06
Account information is retained while your account is active. Favorites remain until you remove them or delete your account. Public contributions may remain available until they are deleted, removed through moderation, or no longer needed for the service. Report and security records may be kept as needed to resolve a case, prevent repeat abuse, comply with law, or establish and defend legal claims.
When data is no longer required, we delete or anonymize it where reasonably possible. Limited copies may remain temporarily in protected backups or provider logs until those systems rotate.
07
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to processing, or receive a portable copy of your personal data. You may also withdraw consent where processing relies on consent and complain to your local data protection authority.
Email us from the address associated with your account. Use the subject “ToiletScore account deletion.” We may ask you to verify ownership before completing the request.

ToiletScore is not directed to children under 13, or a higher minimum age where required by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child who cannot legally consent to its processing. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and remove it where appropriate.
09
We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including encrypted network connections, authentication controls, access restrictions, database security policies, and moderation tools. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

ToiletScore and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Where required, we rely on recognized legal safeguards for international transfers, such as adequacy decisions or approved contractual protections.
11
We may update this policy as ToiletScore changes or legal requirements evolve. We will post the revised version here and update the date above. If a change materially affects how personal information is used, we will provide additional notice where appropriate.
