These terms explain how you may use ToiletScore and the standards that apply when you share reviews, photos, and place information.

Accepting these terms
By accessing or using the ToiletScore website or mobile app, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use ToiletScore.
If you use ToiletScore on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these terms for that organization. Mandatory rights available to you under applicable law are not limited by these terms.

What ToiletScore provides
ToiletScore helps people find toilets and view community-provided information about cleanliness, facilities, access, availability, and venue details. Signed-in users may add or update places, publish reviews and ratings, upload photos, save favorites, vote on helpful reviews, and report content.
ToiletScore is an information service, not an emergency, accessibility-certification, health, or navigation service. Confirm critical details with the venue when necessary.

Accounts and eligibility
You may browse public listings without an account. An account is required to contribute content or use certain personal features. You must provide accurate account information, keep your sign-in credentials secure, and promptly tell us if you believe your account has been compromised.
ToiletScore is not directed to children under 13, or a higher minimum age where local law requires it. If you are not old enough to accept these terms yourself, a parent or legal guardian must do so for you where the service is legally available to you.

Your contributions
You keep ownership of content you submit. You are responsible for it and confirm that you have the rights and permissions needed to share it and that it does not violate law, privacy, intellectual property, or these terms.
To operate ToiletScore, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, display, distribute, and moderate your submitted content. This license is limited to operating, improving, protecting, and promoting ToiletScore and continues only as reasonably necessary for those purposes, subject to our Privacy Policy and applicable law.
Public factual place information, such as a toilet location or accessibility feature, may remain as an unattributed community listing after you delete your account. Personal content is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

Content and photo rules
Contributions must be honest, relevant, and respectful. You may not submit false or misleading listings, manipulated ratings, harassment, threats, hate speech, sexually explicit material, illegal content, spam, malware, impersonation, or content that infringes another person’s rights.
Restroom photo safety
- Photos of empty toilets, sinks, floors, facilities, cleanliness, damage, missing supplies, and accessibility features are allowed.
- No person may appear anywhere in a restroom photo, including in mirrors or reflections.
- Do not photograph occupied stalls, children, employees, cleaners, or any person without their clear knowledge and permission.
- Avoid names, receipts, personal documents, screens, or any other identifiable information.
- Inspect the entire image before uploading it.
Content that risks another person’s privacy or safety is not permitted, even if the image also contains useful toilet information.

Moderation, reports, and blocking
We may review, filter, restrict, edit for formatting, hide, or remove content and may limit or suspend accounts when reasonably necessary to enforce these terms, protect users, comply with law, or maintain service quality. We are not required to publish or retain every submission.
Use the in-app reporting controls to report objectionable content or users. You can also block a user so their contributions are hidden from your experience. We review reports and may take action based on the nature, context, severity, and history of the issue. For urgent safety concerns, contact the appropriate local authorities rather than relying on ToiletScore.

Maps and third-party services
ToiletScore relies on third-party services, including Supabase for account and data infrastructure and OpenStreetMap-based services such as Nominatim or Photon for maps, addresses, and place search. Their data may be incomplete, unavailable, delayed, or inaccurate, and their own terms and privacy notices may also apply.
Links or directions to third-party sites, venues, or services do not mean that ToiletScore controls or endorses them. You are responsible for following any venue rules and applicable law.

Our service and intellectual property
ToiletScore and its software, design, branding, logos, and original content are protected by intellectual-property laws. We give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the service for its intended purpose.
You may not copy, sell, sublicense, reverse engineer, bypass security controls, scrape the service at scale, interfere with its operation, use automated systems without permission, or use ToiletScore to violate law or another person’s rights.

Availability and disclaimers
Community ratings, opening hours, access rules, prices, availability, accessibility information, photos, and map data can change or be incorrect. ToiletScore does not guarantee that a toilet exists, is open, safe, clean, private, accessible, free, or suitable for a particular need.
The service is provided on an “as available” basis. We may change, interrupt, or discontinue features and do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. Use reasonable judgment and follow posted signs, venue instructions, and local rules.

Suspension and termination
You may stop using ToiletScore at any time and can delete your account through the app. We may warn, restrict, suspend, or terminate access if you materially or repeatedly violate these terms, create risk or harm, misuse the service, or if required by law. Where appropriate, we may act without advance notice to address urgent safety, security, or legal concerns.
Provisions that by their nature should continue after termination, including ownership, licenses already needed to operate public factual listings, disclaimers, and liability provisions, will continue to apply.

Liability and consumer rights
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ToiletScore is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss arising from use of, inability to use, or reliance on the service or community content.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded by law, including mandatory consumer protections. If your local law gives you rights that conflict with a limitation in these terms, those legal rights prevail.

Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as ToiletScore, applicable law, or our safety practices change. We will post the revised version here and update the date above. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice where appropriate. Continued use after the new terms take effect means you accept them.
